Mozambique has temporarily paused a new travel rule that would have affected visitors from visa-exempt countries, including South Africa.

Travel registration requirement suspended
The halted policy required travellers to register online via Mozambique’s Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system at least 48 hours before departure. However, this measure has now been put on hold due to unresolved technical issues.
According to Tourism Update, the National Migration Service (SENAMI) released a statement confirming the immediate suspension of the system.
“Technical constraints have prevented normal access and submission of data,” SENAMI explained. The agency added that the pause is necessary “to protect user rights while work is conducted to restore and stabilise the system.”
