Sabi Sand Nature Reserve employee attacked by leopard

Sabi Sand Nature Reserve (Formerly Sabi Sand Wildtuin) confirmed that an incident took place on Sunday 21 August when a leopard attacked and seriously injured an employee.

The leopard, an old male in poor condition, attacked the employee who was on the veranda at her residence. She sustained multiple injuries from the attack and was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Management has confirmed that the leopard has since been euthanised in accordance with all protocols for incidents of this nature, with the necessary approval in place from the provincial authority, Mpumalanga Tourism & Parks Agency (MTPA).

A full investigation of the incident is underway.
