According to Travel and Tour World, the new rates will take effect from 1 November 2025 and will remain in place until 31 October 2026.

What is changing

The fee adjustments will vary between parks and visitor categories, with increases of about R30 to R70 per person per day. These changes apply to both local and international visitors.

For example, at Kruger National Park, the international adult fee will rise from R535 to R602 per day.
At Addo Elephant National Park, non-resident adults will rise from R437 to  R492.
During the popular flower season at West Coast National Park, the daily rate for international adults will move from R272 to R306.

Why the increase matters

According to SANParks, the adjustment is essential to keep up with rising operational costs and to continue funding key conservation and maintenance projects. The organisation says the funds will help maintain park infrastructure, improve visitor facilities and support anti-poaching operations.

Some parks that protect endangered species, such as rhinos, will see slightly higher fees to further strengthen these conservation programmes.

What it means for travellers

For visitors planning trips between November 2025 and October 2026, the updated tariffs are an important consideration when budgeting for safaris or day visits.
South African citizens and SADC (Southern African Development Community) nationals will still pay reduced rates compared to international guests, although they will also experience moderate increases.

The conservation fees go directly toward maintaining South Africa’s protected landscapes and supporting community-based conservation projects that benefit nearby areas.

Planning tips

  • Check the updated conservation fees for your chosen park before travelling.
  • Consider visiting during off-peak periods for better value and a quieter experience.
  • South Africans who visit national parks often should explore the WILD Card programme, which can offer long-term savings.
  • Remember that conservation fees are separate from accommodation, guided drives and other in-park activities.
