According to Times Live, visitors can explore the taste and texture of waters from around the world in a guided session that feels as refined as a traditional wine tasting.

Water sommelier Nico Pieterse leads the experience inside the new Fine Water Tasting Room. He introduces guests to the ways that mineral content, filtration methods and geographic origin influence the flavour, aroma and mouth feel of water. The session lasts forty five minutes and gives guests time to appreciate each pour.

The tasting costs two hundred and ninety five rand per person and includes a wide range of waters. These vary from everyday tap samples to rare international bottles that can sell for more than three thousand rand.

The Fine Water Company describes the experience as an invitation to view water as a luxurious and sensory product rather than a daily essential. Guests examine clarity, colour, aroma and texture while learning how geology and source location can influence quality.

The international selection is impressive. It features Romanian spring water infused with colloidal gold, a smooth Tuscan water from Italy, a pure Arctic wilderness source from Finland and Bhutan, a gentle artisan spring water from Austria and a crisp mountain lake sample from Norway. Each one has its own story and mineral profile.

At the opening event, Nico Pieterse shared his excitement at being the first in the world to host a room entirely dedicated to water tasting. He was joined by Michael Mascha, co founder of the Fine Water Society, who spoke about their shared journey in exploring water as a tasting medium.

The new room offers a fresh and intriguing travel experience in the Cape Winelands. It is ideal for curious travellers, wellness fans and anyone looking for something unusual to try during a visit to Stellenbosch.
