Tourism into the country is rapidly increasing and South Africa is looking for ways to still facilitate the flow of visitors while not only maintaining but also enriching communities.

As reported by Bizcommunity, women make up 60% of world travellers and are the decision makers behind 80% of travel decisions worldwide. The fact that hospitality is the biggest employer of women means the relationship between women making decisions within tourism both as service providers and travellers has potential to reshape travel.

The lead of leisure sales at Dreams Hotels & Resorts, Zulfa Hendricks said, “Women are increasingly seeking travel that reconnects them to nature and to themselves, but more than consuming these experiences, they are shaping them. From designing journeys that integrate local culture and conservation to curating wellness and slow-travel experiences, women are influencing every touchpoint in regenerative tourism. Their choices set new standards for meaningful, restorative travel.”

Leveraging women’s leadership isn’t just a win for equality but it’s essential for promoting travel that maintains and enriches ecosystems and supports local culture across South Africa and hopefully, beyond.
