World’s northernmost bar is looking for new management

Posted on 28 September 2020

Ever wanted to own a bar? How about one on the North Pole’s doorstep? Well, now’s your chance. Svalbar, a bar in the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard is up for sale.

Found in Svalbard, the bar regularly has polar bears sniffing around, making it one of the most unique establishments on the planet. It has 18 tables and can cater to 90 customers.

The owners are looking for someone who understands and appreciated its unique position to take over the pub.

Svalbar is a popular and cozy pub in the heart of Longyearbyen, the largest town of Svalbard. The pub is in the immediate vicinity of several hotels and is a natural hotspot for both locals and tourists, with an attractive corner location on the main street. Burgers from the grill, Italian pizzas from the brick ovens and great drinks from the bar are just the tip of the iceberg of what [it] has to offer,’ the owners told Lonely Planet.

Although part of Norway, Svalbard has its own treaty which removes the requirement of visas for anyone who wishes to live there. This is understandable once you realise the whole archipelago only has 3,000 people and has 111 days of darkness during the polar night in the winter.

However, if you’re looking to make one of the most interesting investments on offer right now, this pub could be the adventure you’ve been waiting for.
