Watch: Saving Jaws

Posted by Elise Kirsten on 10 July 2019

A new documentary Saving Jaws, features Ocean Ramsey freediving with great white and tiger sharks. The film gives viewers a look at these marine predators as the incredible, majestic animals that they are, rather than just killing machines. Ocean refutes the idea that she is a shark whisperer but believes that swimming with great whites and tiger sharks is all about the science.

Images of the shark biologist, conservationist, scuba instructor, and model swimming with these behemoth fish have gone viral. She, however, continues to work daily to study and help save sharks.

The movie aims to help viewers experience how incredible sharks and and what we stand to lose if we don’t fight to save sharks and the ocean environment. Skip past the 27 second mark in the Vimeo preview if you’d like to see Ocean swimming with sharks.

🦈 #Repost @oceanramsey ・・・ Wow! I don’t even know what to say. @savingjawsmovie finished last year and is now out! We have a decade of footage that we didn’t even compile and so many interviews from amazing people we would still love to share but we will continue our efforts for shark conservation on multiple projects and platforms because every effort has the potential to reach more people about the importance and plight of sharks. The number of people who now care about sharks is growing and that will mean more voices and support for desperately needed protection from extremely wasteful practices like shark finning. For well over a decade @Juansharks and I have realized that the sharks we grew up with have slowly been disappearing. Its been an honor and privilege to dedicate our lives to being a voice for them. We realize that people often look first and listen 2nd so we are lucky enough work INCREDIBLE (is a serious understatement) creatives like director/cinematographer @keonishoots who put this whole film together with @gravitasventures . So many people to Thank I can’t list them all but thank YOU for your support as we continue our efforts to #HelpSaveSharks and #SaveTheOcean . #SavingJaws is currently available on @amazonprimevideo (go to amazon smile and select **Save The Sea Turtles International** to support the non profit organizations we work with while you shop. Its also available on @itunes I cannot thank enough people for the help and support bringing this project together and am excited to share more.
