Thailand fully opens borders to international tourists

The Tourism Authority of Thailand announced that international travellers no longer required to show proof of vaccination or ATK test results.

A longer length of stay will also be on offer, signalling the completion of the kingdom’s full reopening to international tourism.

Effective from 1 October 2022 until 31 March 2023, the period of stay in Thailand will be extended to 45 days from the initial 30 days which were on offer for tourists coming from Visa exemption territories.

For those who are eligible for Visa on arrival, the length of the trip can be extended to 30 days which is double the original 15 days which were on offer.

Between January and August 2022, Thailand welcomed over 12 000 South Africans to its shores.

Mr Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, said ‘Thailand has fully reopened to the world’s tourists. We invite tourists to come and experience the existing and new tourism offerings in Thailand which, together with the kingdom’s increasing move towards sustainable and responsible tourism, will make for a truly memorable holiday.’

With the kingdom fully reopened, International visitors are coming back in numbers, with international events and local festivals also on the rise. Major International and regional airlines are also resuming flights from countries around the world, thus meaning life is almost back to normal at South Africa’s favourite holiday destination.
