For some people climbing a wobbly ladder gives enough of an adrenaline rush, never mind jumping out of a high-flying aircraft. For a 102-year-old woman in Australia, though, the latter is a walk in the park.

Irene O’Shea, broke a world record this week when she leapt from a plane in South Australia, becoming the oldest skydiver in the world. The skydive was done to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association of South Australia, as well as in honour of Irene’s late daughter, who passed away from a motor neuron disease 10 years ago.

This is not the first dive Irene has done. She took on her first jump at the age of 100. She became the oldest female skydiver in the world in 2017, before topping this year’s record. O’Shea jumped from almost 5,000 metres at SA Skydiving’s Langhorne Creek with paramedic and instructor Jed Smith, who she made her previous jumps with.
