WIN: Fix a quarantini and reminisce on your travels CLOSED

Posted on 26 May 2020

There is a sense of freedom that travelling instils. The freedom to explore a new destination, on your own time, is something we won’t be taking for granted in future.

If you’re in the mood to reminisce over your last beach vacation, then whip out the old photos, throw open the doors of your booze cabinet, put a cocktail umbrella behind your ear, pump up the tunes and stir up these easy-to-make cocktails from Truman & Orange.

These four tropical cocktails will transport you from the confines of the TV room to carefree beach vacation – think friends, laughter, fresh sea air, the scent of coconut sunscreen, a shimmering ocean view and an ice-cold cocktail to sip on.

Not only will these drinks lift your spirits, but you could win a Truman & Orange hamper worth R1,300. The hamper includes:

1 x Bloedlemoen Gin

3 x Grace Sparkling Wines

1 x Seedilp Spice

1 x Bannermans Whiskey

100ml Cranberry Juice
2.5ml Lemon Juice

*Mix one cup of sugar with one cup of water and bring to the boil in a medium saucepan over medium high heat. Cook at a rapid simmer until the mixture thickens slightly, (about 8 minutes). Remove from heat and add one tablespoon of vanilla essence. Leave to cool.

Shake, pour over ice in a wine glass and garnish with two lemon wedges.

Sunklissed Seedlip Spice

Bannerman Beach Cocktail

50ml Bannerman’s Finest Scotch Whisky
12.5ml Naartjie and Rosemary syrup*
3 dashes of bitters

*Mix one cup of sugar with one cup of water. Throw in two sprigs of rosemary and the peels of two small naartjies. Bring to the boil over medium high heat and cook at a rapid simmer until the mixture thickens slightly, (about 8 minutes). Remove from heat and leave to cool.

Add all the ingredients into a glass – being careful not to let the infused peel and rosemary fall into the glass. Add ice and stir for a good one and a half minutes to ensure slow dilution and chilling. Pour the liquid into a glass, leaving the ice behind. Garnish with a Naartjie peel and sprig of Rosemary.

Berry Graceful

10ml Chamomile syrup*
Topped with Grace Rose
Two fresh Raspberries

Chamomile syrup:
Add one cup of water to one cup of sugar and one chamomile tea bag for every 250ml of syrup. Cook on the stove until all the sugar granules have disintegrated and leave the tea bags in for another 5 minutes on the lowest heat. Let the syrup cool before use.

*Some of the recipes include infused simple syrups for a spot of lip-smacking sweetness, and they really are as simple to make as the name says!
