10 reasons to travel with Gorilla Duct Tape

Posted on 26 July 2013

Every good adventurer knows there’s little that duct tape can’t fix. Gorilla Tape is a popular US product that puts other duct tapes to shame – and it’s landed in SA.

Gorilla tape is a heavy-duty, double-thick duct tape that’s truly been put through it’s paces.

It’s made to stick to rough, uneven, unforgiving surfaces like wood, stone, stucco, plaster and brick. Unlike some duct tapes, it has no trouble staying put on these surfaces and it’s waterproof to boot.

Here’s 10 nifty uses for the near-indestructable tape while travelling

  1. Repair a cracked water bottle or a pierced hydration bladder.
  2. Make a rope by twisting one or several lengths of duct tape into a cord or rope.
  3. Fix holes in your hiking boots and patch clothing.
  4. Repair your glasses.
  5. Fix your rain gear and make it waterproof again.
  6. Make a drinking cup – use your imagination and with some genius folding create a cup.
  7. Fix holes in your tent, a broken zipper or broken tent poles.
  8. Fix a broken fishing rod.
  9. Make a clothesline.
  10. Reseal food packages.

I’m sure there are plenty more ways with duct tape  – you can even make a hammock – so feel free to tell us about your own nifty tricks.
