According to Business Insider, from early February 2026, travellers will be able to fly twice weekly from Johannesburg to the northeastern Mozambican port city of Nacala, with regional carrier Airlink introducing the new service.
Flights will depart Johannesburg midmorning on Mondays and Fridays, with same-day return trips in the afternoon. Nacala will become Airlink’s seventh destination in Mozambique, joining Maputo, Beira, Nampula, Pemba, Tete and Vilanculos.
The route will be operated using Embraer regional jets, offering quiet and efficient travel that suits short cross-border routes perfectly. According to Airlink’s CEO, De Villiers Engelbrecht, the new link opens valuable opportunities for both business and leisure travellers, highlighting Nacala’s growing importance as a commercial and tourism hub.
This new Johannesburg to Nacala service gives South Africans easier access to one of Mozambique’s most beautiful and less-visited coastal regions, while strengthening regional travel connections and trade.
