Mozambique entered into a 21-day lockdown on Friday, January 15 and followed in South Africa’s footsteps by closing all beaches.

Other amenities that are closed in a bid to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus include casinos, bars, nightclubs, gyms, cinemas, galleries and museums.
Mozambique’s total number of COVID-19 cases is 26 551 COVID-19. The country has recorded 18 607 recoveries and 241 deaths as of January 18 2021.
Other measures in place under the current lockdown include:
– All commercial establishments must close at 6 pm
– No private events can take place after 8 pm
– Religious gatherings can happen with no more than 50 people
– From Monday to Friday, restaurants can operate between 6 am until 8 pm
– On Saturday and Sunday, restaurants can operate from 6 am to 3 pm
– Liquor stores remain open from 8 am to 1 pm but will stay closed on Sundays
– Travellers need to present a negative COVID-19 test result administered in their country of origin within 72 hours of departure.
