The flight crew was alerted of a possible bomb threat, and the Bomb Squad of the South African Police Service (SAPS) was quickly on the scene. Two passengers’ comments on the flight determined the threat, and authorities were alerted to handle the isolated incident safely and securely.

As a precautionary measure, passengers were calmly and safely evacuated from the flight to allow for a thorough investigation. The aircraft was subsequently deemed safe, and the ticket holders were promptly rebooked on an alternative flight, ensuring their travel plans were not disrupted.

The perpetrators who issued the concerning comments have been placed under arrest, and airport activities and operations have continued.
