Cape Town listed among 10 greenest cities in the world Posted by Anita Froneman on 20 January 2021 The Mother City has received a mention as one of Culture Trip‘s 10 greenest cities in the world. Cape Town was named in the company of eco-friendly champions like Amsterdam, Singapore and Vancouver. Cape Town is world-famous for its scenery, among other things. These cities earned their spots as places where ‘cutting-edge urban culture can be enjoyed alongside the outdoors,’ the travel advisory platform said. Of Cape Town, they sang the praises of its numerous nature reserves, miles of dramatic coastline, and an efficient public transport system. The Western Cape’s capital is also considered Africa’s greenest city. ‘Take the cable car up and, if you’re feeling brave, abseil down Table Mountain before heading to peaceful Oudekraal Beach, still inside Table Mountain National Park. For a beautiful beach with a difference, explore the aptly named Boulders Beach, which is home to 2,000 endangered African Penguins. Groot Constantia, the oldest wine-producing estate in South Africa, about 20 minutes outside of Cape Town, provides the perfect setting to toast your trip,’ Culture trip said. The city was also recently voted as one of Big 7 Travel’s ‘Best Cities for remote working‘ for 2021.
