Drive-in cinema comes to Durban

Durbanites can get their popcorn ready as a drive-in cinema will be launched at Suncoast Casino on August 13. Marriot Parkflix can welcome up to 200 cars and attendees will watch their favourite films on a massive 12 metre-wide screen, according to Durbanite.

‘In an economic downturn, this partnership is a key investment for KZN’s entertainment industry,’ says Stu Berry, Director at Impi Concept Events. ‘Marriott’s investment will not only provide a wonderful opportunity for the people of KZN to be entertained but will stimulate the industry’s supply chain through the injection of cash flow into the technical, security, ticketing and operational companies that would be required to run these events.’

Durbanites can look forward to COVID-19-safe entertainment.

Suncoast marketer Louise Howell said, ‘In a time when everyone needs a little fun to lift the spirits, Parkflix provides the perfect opportunity to entertain the whole family and support local businesses while still adhering to the COVID safety regulations.’

Each car will receive a box of popcorn and a bottle of water, but movie-goers are also allowed to bring their own snacks or order food from vendors on the premises.

Tickets are R220 per car of 2 people, with R50-00 per additional person. Children under 8 are free.

Tickets are available via www.webtickets.co.za. Movies will be screened until August 30.
