The ancient Egyptian way of life is a fascinating subject for many people. For those who have had to forgo travel plans to Egypt, or anyone who has a morbid fascination with the topic, can now explore ancient tombs from the comfort of home.

An interactive virtual experience, launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, will take you through one of the most famous royal tombs: Ramesses VI in the Valley of the Kings.

The experience is free and it traverses through walls covered in hieroglyphics and carvings. The tomb itself is made up of a single, 122m long hallway, with sections of the Book of Gates and the Book of Caverns according to Matador Network. These are traditional funerary texts, in the first chunk of the corridor.

Before the burial chamber, there are extracts of the Book of Amduat. These tell stories of the ancient Egyptian underworld.
