South Africa is in the spotlight, and with good reason. In an article published by Forbes, dubbed “The Best Ocean and Land Safari Experience is in South Africa,” author Katie Kelly Bell names her top safari experiences in the country.

Praising tour operator Go2Africa for planning Bells’ adventures, the journey led her to the finest of bush getaways in South Africa.

On top of the list, though was Grootbos Private Nature Reserve – a luxury lodging experience that invites both oceanic wonders and natural opulence in the Western Cape.

The reserve is something of an eco-paradise, situated only two hours away from Cape Town. Boasting 3 500 hectares, it’s home to 100 endangered plant species, milkwood forests that are over 1000 years old, and more than 23 mammal species.

Beyond the stylish lodging and fine dining experiences, the real treasures were outside. As one of the best spots to enjoy the wonders of the Marine Big Five, sightings described humpback whales, endangered dolphin species, seals and penguins. A visit to Grootbos is promises a wealth of experiences from wildflower safaris to fat biking across sand dunes to the ocean.

The second safari shout-out went to Marataba Mountain Lodge for a remote luxury experience just under four hours away from Johannesburg.
