Kenya is the ultimate safari trip for both families and couples, offering a range of unique experiences and one-of-a-kind encounters with a range of wild animals. The iconic migration of the wildebeest as they move through the Masai Mara National Reserve is only one of the reasons to visit the  East African country that offer a rich history of culture and traditional safari experiences.

Here are 4 must-do activities when visiting Kenya –

1. Giraffe Manor  Enjoy a delicious breakfast with the company of several giraffes at the well-known Giraffe manor, an exclusive boutique hotel. The hotel building is steeped in Kenyan history and dates back to the 1930s. The interior decor is elegant and the hotel is surrounded by expansive gardens. A resident herd of giraffe visit the manor in the morning or evening in search of a snack, they are known to pop their heads through the windows and guests are given food to feed the majestically tall animals. Visitors can spend the night at the manor or arrange a visit to the location with a tailor made safari package.

2. Ali Barbours Cave Restuarant  A natural marvel that offers a romatic and unique setting nestled in a cave on the beach of Diani Sea resort in Kenya is a must-see. The cave is estimated to be between 120 000 to 180 000 years old and is made up of coral that has created a number of chambers interlinked with one another – offering a range of rooms to dine in. The restaurant menu has dishes from pasta to seafood – patrons are advised to book a table at the mountain of the cave to dine under the night time star sky.

3. Interact with baby elephants  A visit to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust allows you to engage with orphaned baby elephants that have been rescued from illegal ivory poaching.  The wildlife sanctuary offers a close-up encounter with baby elephants as you watch them being bottle fed by their minders. It is a heart-warming and educational experience. Visitors are also able to adopt an elephant and donate to their monthly upkeep.

4. Hot Air Balloon over the Serengeti  Gaze upon the African landscape as you travel up high in hot air balloon with Serengeti Balloon Safaris. This is a unique way to experience a safari – as you watch herds of zebras or wildebeest cross the land. Hot Air balloon rides start in the peak of the sunrise to provide guests with a candid capture moment of the African sunrise.
