Kgalagadi’s Twee Rivieren to remain open

Posted on 20 March 2020

Following the announcement of the closure of certain ports of entry between South African and our neighbouring countries to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 spread; South African National Parks (SANParks) would like to clarify that the Twee Rivieren Entrance Gate is still open and will remain open for visitors to Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

However, the border post (emigration) at Twee Rivieren will be closed.

Visitors who enter Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park at Twee Rivieren and plan to exit the park into Botswana will not be able to do so. The two border posts share the same building at the Twee Rivieren entrance gate.

Before the restrictions came into place, visitors who wanted to exit into Namibia, had to pass through Immigration and Customs at the Twee Rivieren Border Post, however this is currently closed too.

Those who wish to enjoy the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park can still do so as long as they enter and exit the park in South Africa.

‘Travellers cannot enter the Park and exit to Namibia at Mata Mata or exit into Botswana through one of their gates. However, you can still enter the Park and exit the park at Twee Rivieren,’ states SANParks.
