A large fire broke out in the Tshokwane area of the Kruger National Park (KNP), where visitors to the parks Tamboti Camp and Kingfisher Ranger Post had to be evacuated on Tuesday Afternoon, 2 November 2021.
When the fire broke out, temperatures were too hot and winds too strong to contain the fire, causing the blaze to spread. Teams were deployed in an attempt to combat the fire, who fought throughout the night to bring the blaze under control.

According to a KNP statement, the fire is under control and is being carefully monitored. Guests have since returned to their camps after the fire was contained.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, and SANParks reported that there were no injuries, casualties or damage to infrastructure.
