‘Oscars of aviation’ announces best African airlines for 2019

Almost 22 million airline passengers voted for the airlines they have experienced to be the best in the past year. ‘The Oscars of the aviation industry’, the Skytrax World Airline Awards, have just been announced for 2019 and these are the best African airlines.

The top 5 African airlines are Ethiopian Airlines, South African Airways (SAA), Air Mauritius, Air Seychelles and Kenya Airways.

The award for the best business class lounge in Africa went to SAA.

SAA’s winning streak continues. The airline won the award for the cleanest cabins on an African airline. This was judged on how clean and presentable the seat areas, tables, carpets, cabin panels and washrooms are in the cabin.

The airline also won the award for best airline staff service on the continent. This award is judged on the onboard and airport staff service.

It was followed by Ethiopian Airlines, RwandAir, Fastjet and Kenya Airways.

The African airline voted as having the best economy class and business class on offer is Ethiopian Airlines.

The top five low-cost airlines on the continent are Fastjet, Mango, Kulula, Jambojet and fly540.

The best regional airlines are Royal Air Maroc, RwandAir, Air Namibia, Tunisair and Air Botswana.
