Sea lions sink yacht

Posted on 7 January 2020

In the United States, a pair of Stellar sea lions perched themselves on a yacht and sank the boat under their weight. According to metro.co.uk the yacht was on the EId Inlet in Olympia, Washington.

The mammals hilariously mistook the vessel for a rock, the usual place a sea lion would park off and rest or escape predators like killer whales and sharks.

Male Stellar sea lions can grow up to 3.25 m and can weigh up to 1,120 kgs, while females are much smaller, growing to 2.9 m and weighing 350 kgs. A local fisherman captured the hilarious video, before returning to confirm that the animals had in fact sunk the yacht.
