More than 60% of the Seychelles population has been vaccinated and has now been ranked the ‘most vaccinated country on earth’.

‘Within immediate effect, Seychelles is ready to welcome all visitors irrespective of their vaccination status on the condition that they have a Covid-19 negative PCR test certificate that must be taken within 72 hours prior to travel,’ announced the latest travel advisory issued by the country’s ministry of foreign affairs and tourism on Friday.

Visitors entering Seychelles will not be required to quarantine but are advised to be vaccinated for their own safety. South African travellers will receive additional health surveillance, including testing within the first week of arrival.

All travellers are to have valid travel health insurance that covers COVID-19 testing, isolation, quarantine, and clinical care. In addition, an online Health Travel Authorisation form will need to be completed by all visitors.

Air Seychelles flights to Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport will resume as of 5 June. Return flights in economy class, from Johannesburg to Sechelles International Airport on the main island of Mahe start at R8,600.

‘The flights will be operated on Wednesdays and Saturdays from OR Tambo International Airport to Seychelles and will also include an overnight service on Saturday nights to provide more flexibility to those planning a quick getaway,’ announced Air Seychelles.

All travellers must comply with the regular COVID-19 regulations and wear a mask when out in public, maintaining social distancing, as well as avoid being in large crowds.
