As reported by Tourism Update, the region’s key gateway has resumed normal flight services after recent disruptions to instrument flight procedures. It’s good news for travellers and tourism alike.

According to the Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism (KLCBT) this revival followed an exemption granted by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) to allow Air Traffic Navigation Services (ATNS) to reinstate the suspended instrument flight procedures (IFPs).

KLCBT Special Attaché Oupa Pilane welcomed the news, pointing out that the delays in recertification of the IFPs had led to flight cancellations, diversions and a ripple effect through the tourism economy. “Thanks to the exemptions granted by SACAA, ATNS has reinstated the necessary procedures, enabling airlines such as Airlink and FlySafair to resume normal schedules,” he said.

Pilane also noted that the silence from the provincial government during the disruption left the private sector bearing much of the burden of resolution. He emphasised that the resumption of full operations comes at a critical juncture as the region gears up for its tourism peak season.

For travellers planning a visit to the Lowveld region, this means smoother arrivals and departures, and a renewed boost for the lodges, tours and experiences that depend on reliable air service.
