Turkey has opened its borders to South Africans once again, where vaccinated travellers are welcome to travel to the country without having to quarantine.

The Turkish embassy in South Africa announced that ‘as of January 10, 2022, passengers coming to Turkey from the Republic of South Africa or those who have been in South Africa during the last 14 days will be asked to submit a negative PCR test result, which was taken a maximum of 72 hours before entering Turkey.’

Travellers who cannot certify that they have been vaccinated will have to quarantine for seven days. Travellers can request an early termination to end their quarantine and will be subjected to a PCR test on the fifth day of their quarantine.

Travellers wanting to travel to Turkey can take advantage of the direct flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg to Istanbul after Turkish Airlines returned to South African skies in December of last year.

All passengers arriving in Turkey must have completed a Passenger Locator Form here.
