Water parks to visit across South Africa

Water parks provide thrilling experiences, unforgettable memories and a fun-filled day for young and old. From adrenaline-pumping slides to family-friendly wave pools, South Africa’s water parks are indeed worth the visit.

Here are just a few of the country’s best water parks:

Valley of the Waves, Sun City, North West

Offering water activities that are suitable for all ages, Valley of the Waves is worthy of a spot on your holiday itinerary. The park boasts beautiful waterfalls and refreshing gardens. Its man-made beach is the star of the show. You can expect palm trees, beach sand and bender waves which rise up to two meters in the air every 90 seconds.

The water park will unfortunately be closed from 13 May 2024 to 21 June 2024 due to annual maintenance.

Wet ‘n Wild, Ushaka Marine World, KwaZulu-Natal

Wet ‘n Wild is home to a wondrous beach, water rides, as well as a number of swimming pools. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, the fast and scary rides such as ‘The Drop Zone’ and the ‘Body Tornado’ await you. For those who are less adventurous, rides such as the ‘Toti Splash’ are suitable and also more child-friendly.

Splash Waterworld, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape

Splash World is situated within an enclosed  grassy area on Kings Beach. It offers a number of water activities including a speed slide, lazy river rides, as well as a supertube.

There are also plenty of kiddies rides for your young ones to enjoy. Moreover, braai facilities are available at the park. So, why not enjoy a delicious meal after all the water fun? Splash Waterworld is open on weekends and school holidays.

Mafunyane Water Park, Nelspruit, Mpumalanga

The Mafunyane Water Park is situated at Riverside Mall and consists of a number of exciting water activities. Undoubtedly, it is the ideal place to cool down from the Lowveld heat.

If you seek thrilling rides, the ‘Zooming Zebras’ and ‘Rampant Rhino’ are sure to challenge you. If you prefer something less adventurous, you can simply enjoy the park’s main pool as you relax on a tube.
