As reported by IOL, this forward-thinking policy which was announced by the Italian Aviation Authority (ENAC), applies to dogs weighing between 8 and 10 kilograms.
This offers a wave of relief and excitement to countless passengers eager to travel with their cherished pets by their side.
For many years, air travel regulations for pets primarily addressed smaller animals, often forcing larger dogs to travel in the cargo hold—a situation that raised significant concerns about their safety and well-being.

However, with the introduction of new regulations, larger dogs can now stay with their families in the cabin during flights, as long as the combined weight of the dog and its carrier adheres to the standard limits for cabin baggage.
As reported by Outlook Traveller, these revised rules also aim to standardize airline regulations within Italy. This is especially among low-cost carriers that have maintained strict limitations as far as travelling with pets is concerned.
Thus, it is expected that the country’s aviation industry will become increasingly pet-friendly, while also adopting a consistent and transparent approach when it comes to travelling with four-legged companions.
