According to reports by BizCommunity, the campaign centres on showcasing affordable experiences in the city, through real local voices sharing their favourite places and stories.

From secret foodie spots and no-cost cultural attractions to outdoor adventures, My Cape Town aims to narrate the city’s stories through the eyes of Capetonians themselves. The campaign will be shared on social media with engaging video material, encouraging both visitors and locals to explore Cape Town beyond the more famous sites.

As the campaign unfolds, Cape Town Tourism will roll out specially curated itineraries, offering booking options to make it easier to plan, reserve, and enjoy accessible experiences throughout the city.

“Cape Town is a world-class city, but you don’t need deep pockets to have an unforgettable time here,” stated Enver Duminy, CEO of Cape Town Tourism. “With My Cape Town, we’re letting our community take centre stage, showing the city’s spirit in a genuinely authentic way.”

James Vos, the Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, emphasised that tourism goes beyond landmarks—it’s about the people. By giving exposure to locals and their favourite experiences, My Cape Town not only inspires visitors but also encourages residents to discover and support what’s available in their own neighbourhoods.

Vos added that this approach will strengthen local businesses, sharpen their operations, generate more jobs, and enhance Cape Town’s overall attractiveness to tourists. The goal is to ensure that the benefits of tourism reach all communities. He noted that this campaign, as with the broader tourism strategy, focuses first on the local, then builds outward to share growth across the visitor sector.
