Lanzerac, nestled in the heart of Stellenbosch, has received a Silver Award at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA) for a film created to mark the launch of its acclaimed Pinotage coffee table book.

The accolade places the estate among a select group of tourism and hospitality brands recognised at one of the industry’s leading international film festivals. This year’s event attracted entries from 47 countries, showcasing some of the world’s most compelling tourism and destination narratives.

Created in collaboration with creative agency Xpotential, the award-winning film celebrates Pinotage’s unique role in South African wine history. Through striking visuals, reflective storytelling and a strong sense of place, the production pays tribute to the people, landscapes and traditions that have shaped the country’s signature grape variety, while highlighting Lanzerac’s longstanding connection to its legacy.

The International Tourism Film Festival Africa honours excellence in tourism communication, destination marketing and branded storytelling. The festival recognises productions that successfully connect audiences with destinations, cultures and experiences through authentic narratives.

Emile Langehoven, General Manager of Lanzerac, described the recognition as a proud achievement for the estate and everyone involved in the project.

“Pinotage is woven into the fabric of South African wine heritage, and this project gave us an opportunity to celebrate that legacy in a meaningful and enduring way,” he said. “To receive recognition on an international stage alongside entries from 47 nations is both an honour and a testament to the power of authentic storytelling.”

The sentiment was echoed by Lizanne Vos, CEO of Xpotential, who said the team set out to capture not only the history of Pinotage but also the emotion, character and sense of place surrounding it.

“This award reflects the strength of the story itself and the collaborative partnership that brought it to life,” she said.

The latest accolade further reinforces Lanzerac’s reputation as one of South Africa’s most iconic wine destinations. It also highlights the growing importance of creative storytelling in connecting heritage brands with audiences around the world.

As the estate continues to celebrate its rich history while looking towards the future, the international recognition serves as a reminder that stories rooted in authenticity and craftsmanship can resonate far beyond their place of origin.
