Travellers flying between South Africa and Dubai will soon have more options, with Emirates set to increase its services to both Cape Town and Johannesburg from 20 July.

The airline has announced additional daily flights on two of its busiest South African routes, boosting capacity and strengthening connections between South Africa and Emirates’ global network via Dubai. The expansion comes amid growing demand for international travel and follows a series of capacity increases across the airline’s African operations.
For Cape Town travellers, the increase means more flexibility when planning trips to Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America through Emirates’ Dubai hub. Johannesburg passengers will also benefit from additional seat availability and improved connection times to hundreds of onward destinations worldwide.
The move further reinforces South Africa’s importance within Emirates’ African network. The airline has steadily expanded its footprint in the country, previously introducing a fourth daily Johannesburg service and restoring capacity across key routes as international travel demand continues to recover and grow.
According to Emirates, the additional frequencies will help meet strong passenger demand while providing greater travel convenience for both business and leisure travellers. Cape Town remains one of the airline’s strongest-performing destinations, with demand for flights to and from the Mother City continuing to rise.
The added services are expected to strengthen tourism and business links between South Africa and the United Arab Emirates, while also improving access to popular destinations across Europe, Asia and beyond through Dubai’s extensive route network.
For South African travellers planning overseas holidays, the increased capacity could also translate into more booking options during peak travel periods, particularly during the second half of the year.
