Greenpop – join the treevolution!

Posted on 22 September 2010

Greenpop is a simple and fun idea in celebration of greening. Our first treemendous goal is to get 1000 trees donated and planted in under-greened communities in and around Cape Town during Arbour Month. So far we’ve planted 412 trees and another 300 are going in the ground next week! Greenpop’s success thusfar means the campaign will continue long after September. We are committed to beautifying as many tree-needy communities of the Western Cape as generosity and hard work will allow. As long as trees come in, we’ll keep planting.

Here’s how it works:

We’ve identified community-based projects and underprivileged schools around the Western Cape in need of greening. Leaders from the communities have happily agreed to work with Greenpop and maintain the trees after they’re planted. It’s only R50 per tree and donations can be made from anywhere in the world through the website. To donate a tree or for more information visit www.greenpop.org or for those of you who want to get your hands dirty, sign up as a volunteer. Check out one of our planting day videos.

See you soon saplings.

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now.” – Chinese proverb
