A routine flight into Victoria Falls turned into an unforgettable moment for a group of lucky passengers recently — all thanks to a little extra time and a thoughtful flight crew.
Flying in from Johannesburg, Airlink pilot crew surprised passengers with a scenic detour over the mighty Victoria Falls, looping in a figure-eight pattern so that everyone on board could enjoy the view from both sides of the aircraft. The move, which was made possible by the flight arriving ahead of schedule, earned the airline a wave of online praise.

Traveller Joshua Thompson shared a video of the moment on Instagram, calling it one of the most memorable flights he’s ever taken. “Such a treat to see the falls so clearly from the air before even stepping foot in the national park!” he captioned.
The video has since been reshared by Airlink and flooded with feel-good comments. One follower called it a “10 out of 10 experience,” while another joked that the unexpected detour saved passengers “helicopter money.”
Others were quick to praise the airline:
“Talk about customer experience — massive respect.”
“That pilot deserves an award.”
“Wow. What a privilege. Well done Airlink.”
Not bad for a flight that was simply running early.
