All Lufthansa flights to be delayed by 24 hours Posted by Anita Froneman on 19 January 2021 Lufthansa announced that all flights departing from Cape Town and Johannesburg will be delayed by 24 hours, for ‘operational reasons’ as of January 18. All Lufthansa flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town will be delayed by 24 hours. ‘Over the last weeks, we have seen several new global entry restrictions being implemented, bringing about a reduced demand for air travel,’ André Schulz, the Group’s GM Southern Africa and East Africa said according to Tourism Update. The airline has also made several adjustments to its flight schedules to and from South Africa. The Frankfurt-Johannesburg flight will operate three times a week instead of five, and the Munich-Cape Town flight is suspended. The Frankfurt-Cape Town trip will remain unchanged, operating three times per week. Lufthansa implements the following restrictions for travellers from South Africa: –All passengers must present a negative PCR-/Antigen- (COVID-19) test result at the time of departure, which is not older than 48 hours prior to the scheduled arrival time in Germany (this applies both to guests who end their trip in Germany but also to guests with an onward flight). Children under 6 years of age are exempt. –All passengers (including those with connecting flights to a destination outside Germany) must register online at the following link: https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de/ –All passengers with a connecting flight to a destination outside Germany must, in addition to the above obligations, comply with the entry requirements of the relevant destination country –All guests with a final destination in Germany must observe the local quarantine regulations.
