Emirates is introducing double-daily flights between Dubai and Johannesburg, and daily flights between Dubai and Durban from September 1.

The morning flight out of Johannesburg will fly via Durban, and the second morning flight from Dubai will fly to Durban via Johannesburg, according to Travel News.

Johannesburg schedule

Monday – Sunday the morning flight will depart Johannesburg (via Durban) at 11h55 and arrive in Dubai at 00H55 the next morning.

The daily evening flight from Johannesburg to Dubai leaves Johannesburg (direct) at 19h10 and arrives in Dubai at 05h25 the following day.

The early-morning inbound flight leaves Dubai (direct) daily at 04h05 and arrives in Johannesburg at 10h15.

The mid-morning inbound flight leaves Dubai (via DUR) daily at 09h55 and arrives in Johannesburg at 16h15.

Durban schedule

Monday – Sunday the flight from Durban to Dubai leaves Durban at 14h35 and arrives in Dubai at 00h55 the following morning (direct flight).

Every day of the week, the flight from Durban to Dubai leaves Durban at 14h35 and arrives in Dubai at 00h55 the following morning (direct flight).

The early-morning daily inbound flight leaves Dubai at 04h05 and arrives in Durban at 13h05 (having gone via Johannesburg.

The airline reminds agents that only transit is allowed for South African traffic, and those passengers need a negative PCR test certificate with a QR code, from an approved laboratory, issued within 72 hours prior to departure.

In other news, Emirates and Airlink have announced the expansion of their partnership by giving travellers to and from South Africa access to more than 40 domestic and regional destinations across 12 African countries.

The connectivity between the two airways will offer competitive fares, combined ticketing, and seamless baggage transfers when connecting between both airlines.

Everyone travelling to South Africa can now transfer from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban to domestic points like Bloemfontein, George, Upington, Nelspruit, Hoedspruit, Kimberley, Skukuza, Pietermaritzburg, Richards Bay, Sishen, Mthatha and Port Elizabeth, as well as points across Southern Africa like Gaborone, Kasane, Vilanculos, Lubumbashi, Dar es Salaam, Entebbe, Maseru, Antananarivo, Pemba, Tete, Maun, Victoria Falls, Walvis Bay, Maputo, Windhoek, Harare, Lusaka, Ndola, Bulawayo and Livingstone..
