Images: Snow blankets South Africa and Lesotho interiors

The recent cold front streaming up from the south west delivered a heavy blanket of snow across the interior of South Africa and Lesotho on Saturday, 14 August. Snow continues to fall in a variety of places.

Eastern Cape

Currently on assignment in the Eastern Cape, our Head of Travel, Peter Frost, sent us these images from Lootsberg Pass, Compassberg and Carlton Heights on the N9 road.

Lesotho

Semonkeng Lodge in central Lesotho posted this extraordinary image of their lodge, and have found another way to keep the drinks cool.

And Afriski

a popular ski lodge in northern Lesotho posted this image saying that approximately 5cm has fallen so far. Roads to Afriski are closed to normal vehicles and only vehicles with 4 wheel drive are being allowed through.
