Lights, burnout, launch! at Killarney Robot Racing

Posted on 8 February 2022 By David Henning

We’re lighting up the night again on Wednesday 9 February at Killarney with #RobotRacing, in partnership with the City of Cape Town, on the drag strip from 6:30 pm to 10 pm – and you’re invited!

Best of all, the entry fee is still R70 per person and free for children under 12 as well as Western Province Motor Club members on production of their membership book at the gate on entry.

Spectator tickets are available now via Computicket here. There will also be a limited number of spectator tickets available at the gate.

Please bear in mind that when you purchase your tickets online you will still have to collect the physical tickets, including the free tickets for children under 12, at Computicket or the Computicket outlet at the Money Market counter in your nearest Shoprite, Checkers, Checkers Hyper or Usave store.

And there is still no additional charge to race, although there is a form to fill in. To enter as a participant, email Club secretary Terri Philander at [email protected] for the entry forms, fill them in and email them back to Terri, along with proof of payment, as soon as possible.

#RobotRacing is open to any person holding a valid South African driving licence, and any street-legal car or bakkie. Each vehicle must pass a basic safety check before being allowed to participate and each driver must wear long pants, long sleeves, closed shoes and provide his or her own crash helmet.

Please note that no alcohol may be brought on to the premises.

Strict health and safety protocols among competitors, crews, officials and spectators must also be observed, including temperature screening of all competitors, crew members, officials and spectators attending. We remind everybody attending our event to Mask Up, Wash Up and Back Up – wear your mask over your nose and mouth at all times, wash or sanitise your hands as often as possible and maintain social distancing.

For more information and to enter as a participant email Terri Philander at [email protected].
