Male leopard shot and killed in Sabi Sands Game Reserve Posted by Taylah Strauss on 12 May 2022 A routine patrol went awry when an anti-poaching unit (APU) in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve was allegedly ambushed by a leopard. Hosana The APU responded in self-defence, which ultimately claimed the leopard’s life. A full investigation has been launched into the tragic incident. All safety protocols were followed, according to preliminary findings. More findings will be provided as they become available. The leopard is thought to be Hosana, a male leopard that was born in Djuma Private Game Reserve within the Sabi Sands in 2016. After their births were livestreamed during a safari, Hosana and his sister Xongile became instant celebrities in the reserve and even around the globe. Messages from WildEarth viewers around the world have been pouring in for Hosana, which means “little chief”. His dedicated social media page has over 7000 followers.
