Western Cape Mobility Minister Isaac Sileku spent Monday morning aboard the newly launched GO GEORGE Route 11, travelling between Thembalethu and the Garden Route Mall as part of an engagement with commuters using the service.

According to a media statement issued by the Western Cape Mobility Department, the visit on 8 June formed part of efforts to observe the impact of the new route and hear directly from residents about their travel experiences.
Route 11 has been introduced by the Western Cape Mobility Department and George Municipality as the third GO GEORGE route serving Thembalethu. The service is aimed at improving public transport access in the area and strengthening links to key destinations in George.
According to the media statement, the new route was introduced following requests from residents for a more direct link between Thembalethu and the Garden Route Mall. The service reduces the need for multiple bus transfers and improves overall access to opportunities such as work, schooling and shopping.
During the journey, Minister Sileku engaged with commuters using the route and observed how the service is being used as part of the wider GO GEORGE network across the city.
The Route 11 addition forms part of the broader GO GEORGE public transport system, which connects communities across George with key services and destinations.
The Western Cape Mobility Department says the ongoing expansion of the network continues to focus on improving accessibility and making daily travel more convenient for residents, particularly in areas such as Thembalethu.
