Pictures of the Lyrids meteor shower 2020

It’s meteor season and this week, the Lyrids meteor shower is visible from Earth. Tuesday 21 April was its peak, and a few photographers captured the amazing phenomenon on camera.

To find out more about what the meteor shower is, read here. The shower will be visible until Saturday 25 April, so if you’ve missed it, you still have a few chances!

The annual Lyrid meteor shower officially started up Thursday and will remain active for about 10 days, with the peak viewing night coming late Tuesday into Wednesday morning, according to the Griffith Observatory. You can catch it starting at 10 p.m., but this shower’s perfect for early risers, as the hour or two before dawn is probably the best time to spot the shooting stars!
