Private plane veers off runway at Cape Town International Airport

Posted on 24 January 2023 By Jordyn Johnson

A private plane veered off the runway at Cape Town International Airport on Monday, 23 January, causing two flights to be delayed.

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has said that although the plane was damaged, the solo pilot remained unharmed. There was also no damage caused to the runway, reports News24.

An alternative runway was opened to prevent any further delays.

Mark Maclean, regional general manager, said that flights resumed as usual once the aircraft had been removed, and fortunately no flights were diverted.

The Civil Aviation Authority is investigating the situation.
