From 1 July 2026, the airline will introduce new departure and arrival times for its daily Johannesburg–Kigali service. According to RwandAir, the adjustment is designed to make onward connections through Kigali more efficient, particularly for passengers continuing to destinations across East, Central and West Africa, as well as selected international routes.
Under the revised schedule, flight WB108 will depart Kigali at 09:35 and arrive at Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport at 13:25. The return service, flight WB109, will leave Johannesburg at 17:45 and arrive in Kigali at 21:35.
The airline says the permanent change will create better connectivity through its Kigali hub, allowing passengers to make smoother transfers onto domestic and regional services. It is also expected to improve journey times for travellers heading to long-haul destinations such as London Heathrow.
Kigali has become an increasingly important aviation gateway in Africa, with RwandAir continuing to position the Rwandan capital as a strategic hub linking Southern Africa with destinations across the continent and beyond. The carrier has steadily expanded its network in recent years, offering travellers an alternative route through East Africa for both business and leisure travel.
For South African travellers, the revised timetable could make it easier to connect to destinations across the airline’s network while reducing waiting times between flights.
The schedule update reflects a broader trend among African carriers to strengthen regional connectivity and streamline hub operations as demand for intra-African travel continues to grow.
