Spend a night in the Louvre Museum, Paris

Posted on 3 April 2019 By Adrian Brown

Airbnb, in collaboration with the Musée du Louvre, is giving culture and history-lovers a chance to spend a night in the iconic Parisian museum. Winners will get to dine and slumber among some of the world’s most historically-rich and famous artworks in the city of love.

Winners will be able to bring along a guest and explore the art and history museum after lights-out, making their way through hidden doors as they uncover unseen areas of the Louvre.

Upon their arrival on April 30 2019, both the winner and their guest will be taken on a bespoke tour of the museum by an art historian.

Sleep in a ‘mini-pyramid’ under the museum’s iconic glass pyramid, and cosy up next to Mona Lisa as you share a drink or two with your plus-one. The mini-pyramid was constructed for the evening to celebrate the building’s 30th anniversary.

Dine with Venus of Milo, the greek goddess of love and beauty, in a beautiful atmosphere as you enjoy a delicious dinner specially set up for you. A personal chef will prepare an exquisite menu inspired by both love and beauty, to reflect Venus of Milo, the statue and goddess.

As if that was not lavish enough, an acoustic private concert just for the two of you will be held in the Napoleon III’s luxurious apartment showcase.

Musée du Louvre Deputy Managing Director Anne-Laure Béatrix says of the exclusive one-night stay, ‘We are happy to offer this unique and special experience for two people to stay in the museum overnight, in a bespoke pyramid-shaped bedroom. We know that many people would love the opportunity to wander alone at night through the Louvre and we want this to be a magical and unforgettable experience. With Airbnb’s partnership, we hope to encourage more people to discover how truly accessible and inspiring the wonders of art can be.’

The Louvre opened in Paris in 1793 during the French Revolution with the aim of providing locals inspiration through contemporary art. Some of the greatest artist of all time, such as Dali, Picasso and Courbet, once walked the halls of the museum to admire artists’ work and gain inspiration for their own artwork.

It is a universal museum that houses artworks spanning from the Americas to Asia, covering a rich history and various cultures.
