The new service will begin on December 1, 2025, and operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flights will be scheduled around midday to align with lodge check-in and check-out times, ensuring guests can start or end their safari experience seamlessly.
Luxury travel experience
Guests using this service will enjoy dedicated check-in facilities, a VIP meet-and-greet experience, and access to the Bidvest Lounge at OR Tambo International Airport. Bookings can be arranged directly through participating lodges or via Unique Air.
Enhancing the safari experience
Neil Davison, Chief Operating Officer of Welgevonden Game Reserve, said the initiative will transform the guest experience. He explained, “This partnership allows our guests to begin their safari adventure the moment they touch down in Johannesburg. By offering an easy, luxurious transfer option to Welgevonden, we are enhancing the guest experience and positioning the reserve as a top-tier safari and wilderness destination.”
The new charter service is designed to make the reserve more accessible to both local and international visitors. It aims to provide a streamlined and elevated travel experience for those seeking a premium safari journey in South Africa.
