Excellent sighting of lilac-breasted roller feasting on a mouse

A Kruger visitor captured a wonderful sighting of a lilac-breasted roller eating a mouse up in a tree in central Kruger recently. Take a look at this incredible video taken by Ryan Perel.

Lilac-breasted rollers are found throughout eastern and southern Africa where they inhabit acacia country with spaced-out trees, riverside areas, and cultivated land. Another very important fact about this bird is that it does not associate with human habitation.

This bird will perch upon a dead tree and scout the area for prey before flying down to snatch it up and enjoy it in the tree. Lilac-breasted rollers prey on amphibians, beetles, crabs, and lizards.
