Get free access to our parks during SA National Parks Week

Posted on 19 August 2015

If there was ever a time to be happy you’re a South African, it’s September. Between 14 and 18 September, South Africans will have free access to almost all of the SANParks National Parks in celebration of SA National Parks Week.

The reasoning behind it is simple: to encourage South Africans to visit their local national parks and appreciate the natural surroundings that are much closer than we sometimes think.

The only parks not included in the free entry are the Boulders Penguin Colony in Table Mountain National Park and the Namaqua National Park. The Mountain Zebra National Park and Karoo National Park are also extending free entry to the first 100 people per day who arrive on 19 and 20 September 2015.

All you need to take with you is your South African ID document. And seeing as spring has arrived, there really is no excuse not to make the outing. So convince your colleagues that a sunny afternoon picnic also counts as ‘team building’ and make your way to your nearest national park.

Visit the SANParks website for the full list of participating parks.
