The Tintswalo Collection has announced a seasonal family offer at Tintswalo Waterberg, allowing children under the age of 16 to stay free between May and July 2026.

The promotion coincides with South Africa’s winter safari season, widely regarded as one of the best times of year for wildlife viewing. During the dry winter months, vegetation becomes less dense and animals congregate around water sources, improving visibility and increasing the likelihood of consistent sightings on game drives.

Why winter works for safari travel

Winter conditions in the bushveld typically bring cool mornings followed by mild, sunny afternoons. The reduced rainfall results in open landscapes and clearer viewing conditions, allowing guides and guests to track wildlife more effectively.

Wildlife activity often concentrates near waterholes, creating strong viewing opportunities throughout the day. The season is also associated with fewer insects, contributing to a more comfortable outdoor experience for families travelling with children.

A malaria-free family safari destination

Tintswalo Waterberg is located within the malaria-free Welgevonden Game Reserve, a private reserve known for its Big Five wildlife and mountainous terrain.

The reserve’s elevated landscapes provide wide-ranging views and varied habitats that support diverse animal populations. The lodge positions itself as a family-friendly safari option, and the winter promotion aims to encourage multi-generational travel during a peak wildlife-viewing period.

Limited availability during peak season

Winter remains one of the most popular safari seasons in South Africa, with demand typically increasing between May and August. Tintswalo notes that availability across its properties is limited during this period, and advance booking is recommended.

The kids-stay-free offer applies to qualifying stays booked for travel between May and July 2026.
