South Africa’s 2010 FIFA World Cup has been ranked the ‘greatest World Cup of all time’ by sports outlet Sport Bible, a milestone moment that cements its legacy as one of the most memorable global tournaments in football history.

The event, which was the first World Cup ever hosted on African soil, saw more than 3 million fans fill stadiums across nine host cities and ten venues.

According to figures highlighted in reports shared by Africa View Facts via a Facebook post, the tournament drew an unprecedented worldwide audience, with nearly 3.2 billion people watching matches on television and online platforms.

FIFA data showed that the competition reached over 26 billion media views globally, while the final match between Spain and the Netherlands attracted more than 900 million live viewers. Spain’s 1–0 victory in extra time not only secured their first-ever World Cup title but also became one of the most-watched sporting moments in history.
