Hot air ballooning launched in Chobe

Posted on 29 November 2019

A new hot air ballooning operation has been launched in Botswana’s Chobe region, by AirVentures Balloon Safaris and An African Anthology.

Each balloon ride is an hour long and the basket can accommodate up to eight guests at a time.

The operation will be based at Elephant Valley Lodge in the Kasane Forest, but guests staying at other camps in the region can also book balloon safaris, which will fly over the Seloko Plains concession.

Situated south of Kasane, the Seloko Plains is a wildlife corridor that extends from Zimbabwe to Chobe National Park and the Kasane Forest Reserve.

‘Based on the success of a hot air balloon safari offering at the Kadizora Camp in the Okavango Delta in Botswana for the past four years, we decided to extend operations into the Chobe,’ said Chris Anagnostellis, CEO of An African Anthology.

‘We have seen increased demand for bucket list activities and soft adventure activities over the years… and the exclusivity of the balloon flying in such a remote region offers the most incredible game viewing from the air,’ said Anagostellis.

Balloon safari will operate from 1 May to 15 September and guests will receive sparkling wine and orange juice as well as commemorative flight certificates after landing and then they’ll be to transferred to the five-star Kazuma Camp for breakfast.
