Lesotho receives sprinkling of Spring snow

Posted on 2 November 2020

Afriski and Mokhotlong in Lesotho received Spring snowfall over the weekend. It is not an unusual occurrence for this season.

Spring in the Southern Hemisphere starts September 1 and ends November 30.

The weather forecast across Lesotho is rather chilly in the first half of the day, reaching a high of 16°C in Mokhotlong, according to The Lesotho Meteorological Services.

Afriski took to social media to share their images of the snowfall that has dusted the slopes around the resorts.

A member of the Facebook group Weather Today – Southern Africa shared an image of the snowfall on a road pass in Mokhotlong.

A cold weather warning has been issued for the November 10 and 11.

‘On Wednesday 10th at night into Thursday 11th and a possible trace in the lowlands with very cold conditions from Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th,’ said The Lesotho Meteorological Services.

In October last year, Afriski Resort, Sani Pass and Mokhotlong all received snow that made the roads only passable by 4×4.
